Why I Created Away Zealand

A Journey Back to What Matters.

New Zealand has always been more than just a place to me—it’s a feeling. The feeling of fresh ocean air on a quiet beach, the warmth of a shared meal with local winemakers, the stories passed down by those who know the land best. After years of living abroad—and spending much of my career curating journeys across South America—I found myself craving not just a return home, but a way to bridge the two places that have shaped me the most. Away Zealand was born from that desire—to create journeys that go beyond sightseeing, immersing travelers in the heart of New Zealand’s food, nature, and culture in a way that feels personal and deeply meaningful.

I didn’t want to build just another travel company; I wanted to craft experiences that feel rare, intimate, and unforgettable. Just as I’ve done in South America, I’m working alongside passionate local partners—chefs, winemakers, guides, and storytellers—to design journeys that offer an insider’s perspective. Whether it’s a private tasting in an off-the-radar vineyard, a day spent exploring a wild landscape without the crowds, or an evening listening to stories that have shaped this land, Away Zealand is about slowing down, savoring the moment, and traveling in a way that feels like being let in on a secret. New Zealand and South America share a deep connection—wild landscapes, rich traditions, and people who welcome you like family—and I can’t wait to bring that same spirit of hospitality and discovery to Away Zealand.
